Three has announced the introduction of their eSIM wearable technology, permitting Apple smartwatch owners to take calls, send messages and use data through their smartwatch, even without their mobile device nearby.
Three’s Smartwatch Share add-on plan allows customers to connect their Apple smartwatch to their phone, sharing plan allowances between the two devices. This innovative service essentially turns a user’s Apple smartwatch into a mirrored mobile phone device, enabling customers to use their smartwatch for calls, texts and data usage, utilising the same number as their mobile phone.
Accessible today in conjunction with Apple smartwatch technology, customers can avail of this service by purchasing the Smartwatch Share add-on for their Bill pay or Business account. The Smartwatch Share add-on service will be rolled out to other cellular-accessible smartwatches later this year.
The launch of Smartwatch Share follows the introduction of Three’s eSIM in 2023, an industry-standard digital SIM that allows customers to activate a mobile plan from their service provider without having to use a physical SIM card. eSIM technology is also enabling improved sustainability practices, which allows consumers the option to avail of multiple numbers in one device.
