Three has been named as Ireland’s Speedtest Award Winner for fastest mobile network speed by Ookla, the global leader in fixed broadband and mobile network testing applications, data and analysis. The result is based on analysis of tests taken on Speedtest mobile apps in the second half of 2020.
Ookla compared 485,674 user-initiated tests taken on the Speedtest iOS and Android mobile apps from all major mobile telecommunications providers in Ireland during the Q3/Q4 period of 2020 to determine who showed the fastest network speeds.
Three Ireland’s Speed Score was marked at 26.16 ahead of Vodafone at 23.74 and eir at 20.76, achieving the best overall data performance in download and upload speeds in addition to the highest peak speeds for both download and upload.
Robert Finnegan, CEO of Three Ireland and Three UK said: “Our customers have never relied more on Three for mobile connectivity; they need to work remotely, to educate remotely, to stay in contact with loved ones and of course to entertain themselves.
As the leading mobile network in Ireland, Three has always been committed to delivering the best network experience for our customers across the country. We have and will continue to invest hundreds of millions into our network and it is great to see this commitment delivering real results for our customers as Three is verified by Ookla as having the fastest mobile network in Ireland.
We want our customers in both rural and urban locations to get the best service and have access to the fastest data speeds possible. With 5G available in every county, Three is providing a network that serves all of Ireland.”
“Over half a billion users rely on Speedtest to measure their internet performance every year. Ookla analyzes these test results to get an unparalleled view into mobile and fixed broadband metrics around the world.
It is our pleasure to recognize Three as the Fastest Mobile Network in Ireland based on our rigorous analysis. This award is a testament to Three’s exceptional performance, as experienced by their own Ookla.
When analysing the fastest operators, Ookla solely considers top telecommunication providers. The fastest operator is determined using Speed Score which incorporates a measure of each providers download and upload speed to rank network speed performance.
