Top companies from the world of localisation and translation are coming to Dublin this week for the world’s largest conference on the language industry, Locworld.
More than 600 global business executives from 45 countries are expected to attend Locworld which is taking place in the Conference Centre Dublin from June 8-10.
Dublin is widely considered to be the home of the European localisation and translation industry with companies like Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Airbnb centralising their translation activity here.
“The software translation and localisation industry in Europe started in the 1990s in Dublin and is still a core part of the business ecosystem here,” said Annette Lawlor, founder of Dublin-based localisation recruitment company L10n People.
“The global translation industry surpassed more than $38bn last year, and is growing by more than 6% annually, making this an excellent time for people to consider a career in the industry.
“How we grow and develop future talent in the industry will be a core part of this year’s conference.”
The preconference day will include round tables on sales and marketing, life sciences business, game localisation and growth strategies. There will also be an initiative on developing talent, localisation for startups and several more sessions.
Attendees may choose from nine tracks during the main conference: advanced localisation management, content strategy, core competencies, global business, inside track, language service providers, TAUS, technical, and unconference.
Xplanation’s Dave Ruane originally from Dublin will host this year’s keynote panel on day two, delivering a hands-on talk on what really works for companies such as Adobe, Electronic Arts and Facebook.
Speakers at the conference include representatives from Adobe Systems, Dropbox, Electronic Arts Europe, Facebook, GetYourGuide, Google, IBM, Lenovo, Microsoft, Oracle, Sage Software, Inc., Xerox and many others.
“Dublin has a long and deep connection to the localization industry and the CCD is an amazing facility that makes the event even more special for attendees,” said organiser Donna Parrish.
