We look at this timely book on NFTs, taking you through the whole process in an accessible and informative way. Written by Matt Fortnow, and QuHarrison Terry and published by Wiley, you can see more about the book here.
This is definitely a timely book, and it is written in a user friendly way. The structure of the book is logical and helpful. We enjoyed reading it, and found it informative and pitched at a good level. At Irish Tech News we have seen a massive surge in NFT related stories. We would say that everyone and their dog is trying to do it, but you would also actually have to include elephants too.
Fortnow and Terry take us on a coherent and balanced exposition of what NFTs are, why they have value, the digital art context from which they have emerged, and why, some, may have value in the future. Not all of them are going to make it, and in this book they offer you a no B/S guide to why some will have value, why some briefly had value but are unlikely to retain it, and how to ensure you don’t buy a pup.
We found the book to be clear, informative and we came away knowing more about some areas that were new to us. They are also not selling promises or snake oil. Like all areas of the art world, some items will retain value, others, like the Logan Paul case study, are much less likely to do so, even if it did net him probably $5 million. That may well have been a good day for Logan Paul, rather than NFT art collectors. As always it is and will be a case of buyer beware. This is a great book and we would recommended it, check it out.
