Why is Ireland excelling in IoT? DCU Alpha campus in partnership with Irish Tech News to host May 30th conference

1 min pitch for what you are doing now?

Workspace evolution!

How drained do you feel when commuting hours to work through noisy claustrophobic cities with millions squashing into one place? It is a mission that slowing becoming a movement to decentralise Enterprise. Many jobs around the world based in major cities can be positioned in rural areas, with an amazing work life balance.

How was the last 12 months?

One major achievement in the past 12 months is setting up the first rural IoT living lab in Europe. You can check it out on

Startup Insights, IoT, the Living Lab, and much more with Rick Nassar

What are your plans for the future?

To have companies capable remote working to even entertain the idea they would need to see a solid workspace infrastructure. The most obvious factor is broadband and we are already here. My hometown, Cahersiveen already receives a steady fibre speed of 100mbps. The work we are doing now is to set up awesome workspaces (with the best coffee in the country!), PhD retreats and Tech labs. We are building one of the most advanced Technology Labs in the Europe that will hold the latest Virtual Reality lab, 3D printing and IoT Lab equipment for companies to test their premarket products and services, along with research case studies for Universities.

The other major plan is to rollout 1Gbps broadband in the future.

What will you be talking about at this event?

The happy life of a remote worker, and the latest advancement in Rural IoT living lab project.

What inspired you to participate?

The guys from ITN are great supporters of my work in the past year so I jumped on the opportunity to support them back!

Which influencers and websites do you follow to keep up to date with the latest developments?

Of course, ITN is my top Irish website for Tech news ?. It’s mostly relevant topics on twitter or LinkedIn like IoT, AI and ML. Recently I also picked an interest in Blockchain. In Ireland, I follow the likes of Ken Finnegan from IDA who has the best selfies, and Gene Murphy from BOI who always wins in the Battle of the GIFs. International influencers, you’ll be looking at Richard Branson, Elon Musk, Michelle Obama and one my favourite TV Tech presenters Spenser Kelly!

How can people find out more about what you are working on?

Best to connect with me through twitter is @tknase or LinkedIn:
