The Digital Hub promotes festive message from iconic tower

The Digital Hub’s iconic ‘St. Patrick’s Tower’ in the Liberties has been lit up in red lights for the festive season for everyone in the local neighbourhood to enjoy. The Tower which is Europe’s tallest smock windmill (with a revolving top) was built in 1757.

It was built to power the Roe Distillery, which by 1887 covered 17 acres and produced over two million gallons of whiskey annually, making it Europe’s largest distillery. The Digital Hub is an enterprise cluster for growing technology companies. Home to almost 100 established businesses and employing just over 700 people, The Digital Hub is the largest cluster of digital media, technology and Internet businesses in Ireland.Photographed turning on the lights with the festive message ‘Nollaig Shona Dhaoibh’ at ‘St Patrick’s Tower’ located in The Digital Hub from left to right: Fiach MacConghail, CEO of The Digital Hub and Mary Kwadjo, D8 Surfers Club. Photography: Peter Houlihan

D8 Surfers is a free digital literacy programme giving local residents in the Liberties the opportunity to learn how to use a laptop/tablet, email, skype, and other communication tools and surf the Internet.
