When and where is it on?

Techies4TempleStreet is on in the RDS, Dublin on Friday 5th July starting 2pm.

How many years has it been going?

Techies has been going since 2015, so are delighted to be celebrating their 5th birthday this year

What was the inspiration to start it?

Techies4TempleStreet is an ingenious charity event created by Hostelworld co-founder and Homestay founder, Tom Kennedy. Initially, the idea was to mobilise the tech industry as a whole to support Temple Street and raise money for a new renal and neurological outpatient’s facility at the hospital. The money raised in both 2015 and 2016 went towards the construction of this new unit. The money raised in 2017 was used to purchase essential equipment – 2 biochemistry analysers and 2 surgical drills – and the €240,000 raised in 2018 will be used to revamp the ground floor of the Outpatients department. This is one of the busiest and most visited areas in the hospital and is in bad need of an upgrade. Once we achieve our goals and targets for 2019 Techies4TempleStreet will have raised over €1 Million over 5 years for The Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

What exciting things can people look forward to?

The day is a unique urban treasure hunt combining clues, activities and physical challenges for a fun day of team-building and networking. Each participant will receive a t-shirt and goody bag on check in and then the teams will be sent off through the streets of Dublin to engage their brains! On their return, there will be food and drink for everyone along with plenty of entertainment throughout the evening.

What opportunities are on offer for those attending?

This is a fun day which brings together key decision makers, executives and staff to enjoy each other’s company in a relaxed and fun environment while all the time raising much needed funds for sick children. We will have over 1600 participants at our 2019 event and we have sponsorship & branding opportunities for companies who are looking to build brand awareness.

What tips would you give to people participating to get the most out of it?

We encourage teams to register as early as possible which allows them to maximise on their fundraising time. A record of all fundraising over the preceding months is kept on our Techies Leader board and those companies that have raised the highest amounts get a head start on the day.

How can people sign up and when is the closing date?

The team entry fee is €1,250 broken down into a registration fee of €750 and a €500 fundraising target per team. Companies can register their team at our website www.techies4templestreet.ie. These registrations are open until the end of May but we do promote early registration to boost fundraising

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

Now in its 5th year, join over 1,600 members of the Irish tech and business communities and take to the streets of Dublin for a unique treasure trail, combining outdoor activities with digital media challenges whilst making an impact to the lives of sick children across Ireland.
