Tata Consultancy Services, a leading global IT services, consulting and business solutions organisation, has announced a partnership with CSR Europe. CSR Europe is the leading European business network for Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility which supports businesses and industry sectors in their transformation and collaboration towards practical solutions and sustainable growth. For CSR Europe’s upcoming flagship events, the SDG Summit, TCS aims to highlight the crucial role of technology in stimulating innovation that is required to help Europe meet its CO2 targets by 2030 and essential for building a greener and more sustainable Europe.
The SDG Summit takes place from 11th – 14th October and will bring together European thought leaders from businesses, industries, governments and academia to explore new ways to renew ambition and collective action to build a more sustainable future for businesses and citizens across Europe, in line with the objectives of the European Commission’s European Green Deal. The SDG Summit is free and accessible to all. TCS’ virtual booth is available online.
“Giving back to society has been one of TCS’ core values since we started our business. For the present generation, there is nothing more crucial than realising the fundamental shift towards a sustainable society, said Sapthagiri Chapalapalli, Head – TCS Europe. “We believe that this fundamental shift is not only a mindset. We need technology, innovation and practical solutions that will enable businesses, organisations and people to actually live and work in a more sustainable and purposeful way. We are keen to provide our knowledge and bring in our ecosystem of partners, academia and start-ups to help make this possible.”
“With its global portfolio of business and technology solutions and services and a strong commitment to society, TCS is an ideal partner for CSR Europe’s SDG Summit,” said Stefan Crets, Executive Director CSR Europe. “Europe has set an ambitious target to become Net Zero by 2050 and, according to Diederik Samsom, Head of Cabinet of Euro Commissioner Frans Timmermans at the recent TCS Pace launch, 50 percent of the technology we need for that still has to be invented. This means that a greener Europe will ultimately be dependent on extensive innovation and collaboration in the tech sphere. CSR Europe members and companies like TCS will undoubtedly prove key facilitators to accelerate this drive.”
To promote sustainable business initiatives across communities, TCS is leveraging its European Innovation Network that enables access to intellectual, technology, financial and business resources. As part of that, TCS recently launched TCS Pace in Europe, bringing together an ecosystem of partners from academia, government institutions, start-ups and technology providers to co-innovate with European customers and boost sustainable development in Europe.
In June 2021, TCS announced plans to globally reduce 70 percent of its absolute greenhouse gas emissions across Scope 1 and Scope 2, by 2025; and to achieve net zero emissions by 2030.
