A survey conducted by Samsung Electronics has revealed that 3 in 4 people spend up to 4 hours a day watching TV, proving once and for all that our nation’s obsession with the goggle box is in rude health, and easily coexists with our obsession for social media consumption. So, to gauge how immersed we are in our telly viewing Samsung hit the streets to put Irish people’s TV knowledge to the test and find out just how much we recall from our hours of binge-watching.

Taking inspiration from the Samsung QLED TV’s chameleon-like qualities (Ambient Mode) and to celebrate the 2018 range, Samsung ‘disguised’ a QLED TV in a jungle setting in Dundrum Town Centre on Saturday, 21st July. Samsung Quizmaster, Brian Dowling, invited passers-by at random to participate in a quiz to test their TV knowledge to be in with a chance of winning a QLED TV. To win, the chosen passer-by had to answer all questions correctly and as the video below shows, there were some who didn’t get all the answers correct!

The Soaps came up trumps for one lucky winner on the day as their TV hung in the balance on a Coronation Street question. From the research, the Soaps are the most popular programmes to watch at a set time every day with 45% saying they like to catch up on their regular fix of Eastenders or Coronation Street as they air! 41% like to watch the news live while a third (32%) watch major sporting events in real time.

According to the research, when it comes to our viewing habits 1 in 5 admit to being binge watchers preferring to watch an entire series in one go, but 43% say they tend to watch some programmes live and binge on others. Whether it’s live or recorded, only Samsung QLED TV is certified to deliver 100% colour volume meaning the five new Samsung QLED TV owners will get to enjoy spectacular movie nights at home and experience sporting games as if they are in the stadium.

Samsung’s 2018 QLED TV line-up features new innovations that enrich the lives of consumers by reimagining how TV integrates into the living room, how consumers enjoy their content, and how they interact with their devices. A key feature of the 2018 QLED TV range is Ambient Mode, which does away with the black screen. Ambient Mode can mimic the pattern on the wall behind the TV to create an astonishing visual effect in which the TV blends seamlessly into the wall** – similar to a chameleon adjusting to its surroundings.
