Survey finds Work/life balance and flexible hours are key for Irish workers

A good work/life balance, appreciation for good work and generous levels of paid annual leave are the most important factors in creating a positive working environment, according to a career survey launched on 29 March by Career Zoo, Ireland’s leading careers event.

The survey also showed that flexible work options, salary and career development opportunities are the most important factors when looking for a new job.

Career Zoo is returning to Dublin on Saturday 7th April, taking over the CHQ Building and Dogpatch Labs on Dublin’s North Docklands.

Leading tech employers including SAP, Amgen, JP Morgan, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, nearForm and Autodesk will be at Career Zoo to hire experienced professionals in software, data, security, fintech, dev-ops and other areas.

“With Ireland close to full employment, the power is all in the candidates’ hands and so companies have to adapt,” said the Director of Career Zoo, Jackie Slattery. “Career Zoo is helping to connect professional job seekers and companies in a smarter way through networking with their tech peers, speaker sessions on the latest industry projects and helping candidates learn about a company’s culture and people.”

At Career Zoo, job seekers will have the chance to network with leading Irish and multinational employers. They will also have the opportunity to attend speaker sessions on the latest innovations in tech, biotech and fintech and participate in diversity, workplace culture and wellness workshops.

Employers will be able to digitally exchange vital information with candidates, including CVs and LinkedIn profiles, using the latest in-event networking technology.

The event is sponsored by JP Morgan, SAP and Amgen. Other participating companies include Abbott, Airtel, Aspira, Autodesk, Bentley Systems, Cardinal Healthcare, Eaton, Grifols, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Mylan, nearForm, Ocuco, Shire, SIG, State Street, Takeda, Twilio, Version 1 and Wachsman.

Career Zoo will take place at the CHQ Building and Dogpatch Labs at 1 Custom House Quay in Dublin’s North Docklands from 10am to 4.30pm on Saturday, 7th April.
