Sunfire Remote Wins Network Sustainability Award 2021

Sunfire-Remote impressed the jury with a clean power solution for off-grid applications. The prize money from the award will be used to donate a fuel cell generator to an organisation in need of sustainable energy sources. Sunfire Remote is now calling for ideas.

Sunfire-Remote Announced as the Winner of the Network Sustainability Award 2021

Sunfire-Remote was announced as the winner of the Network Sustainability Award 2021. The Network Sustainability Award was launched by Deutsche Telekom together with its partners Microsoft, Orange, SK Telecom and Solar Impulse Foundation to honour the most environmentally friendly and reliable energy technology. More than 220 applications were received for this year’s award.

“Sunfire-Remote perfectly meets the expectations of the telecommunications industry: When supplying off-grid applications with electricity, we need technologies that we can rely on.

Sunfire-Remote impressed the jury with its efficiency and low maintenance, which keeps fuel procurement, transport and storage costs to a minimum”, according to a representative from hubraum, Deutsche Telekom’s tech incubator. “In addition to its overall functionality, we expect a product to be sustainable. Sunfire-Remote managed to convince us in this area.”

“Bringing renewables everywhere is our core mission. With our energy solutions, we want to enable a sustainable transition anywhere in the world. Sunfire-Remote emits significantly fewer pollutants than comparable generators. If it is powered with renewable fuels, for instance, e-Propane, it is also carbon-neutral”, Managing Director Andreas Frömmel explained.

Winning the Network Sustainability Award 2021, Sunfire-Remote aims to help grow the telecommunications market. Projects are envisioned not only with Deutsche Telekom but also with its partners such as South Korean Telecom and Orange.

“We are looking forward to providing evidence on how well Sunfire-Remote operates, even under harsh conditions,” said a delighted Andreas Frömmel after receiving the award. “Many thanks to our developing and manufacturing team here in Neubrandenburg for all the hard work, brilliant ideas and long nights spent working on our fuel cell generator.”

The prize money will be used to support additional off-grid power projects. To this end, Sunfire is calling for organizations who have not yet been able to supply their applications with power – possibly because they lack the financial resources, or because previous solutions have proven to be impractical.

Areas of application are diverse, ranging from security solutions to weather stations or even festivals. After a personal exchange, it will be determined if the particular case is suitable for Sunfire-Remote. Managing Director Andreas Frömmel (andreas.froemmel@sunfire.de) will be accepting proposals until July 31, 2021.
