The Irish Research Council, which supports research across all disciplines, will announce its 2014 Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme Awards and call for applications to the 2015 Scheme, tomorrow, Tuesday, 21st October, at 12.45pm in front of the Bord Gais Energy Theatre, Grand Canal Square, Docklands, Dublin 2.
The latest round of successful Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme research projects cover topics as diverse as: the impact of obesity on adolescent motor development; the promotion of STEM through computer construction kits in primary schools; the mechanisms of concussion injuries in rugby; the construction of Irish identity; bioactive and nutritional profiles of Irish honey; and potentials for autoimmune disease therapy.
Commenting in advance of tomorrow’s announcement, Eucharia Meehan, Director of the Irish Research Council, said: “We are delighted to award this year’s postgraduate scholars with funding to continue their education and research projects, which are to an incredibly high standard this year.”
“The Council funds excellent researchers across all disciplines and we encourage all suitably qualified students to consider applying for the 2015 Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme, which will be open from December 2014, on www.research.ie.”
