Student Startup Programme

Student Startup is a new initiative which aims to introduce students to startup and entrepreneurial life.

The inaugural event will bring a group of 20 students, both individuals with ideas and teams with existing startups, together to develop their startup ideas further.

Starting August 24th, the week-long programme in Dublin will give participants an opportunity to learn from industry speakers, meet like minded students and bring their ideas to the next level.

The programme will provide students with a workspace in the offices of Dublin’s Commissioner for Startups. Speakers will cover a range of topics from customer development to pitching and financing during daily talks. Teams will also be assigned a mentor, who has recently finished college and is running startups full-time, to advise and explain every element of running a startup to the students.

Afternoon and evening activities, including a trip to Dogpatch Labs, interviews with IrishStartup.TV and a 5-a-side soccer tournament will ensure that participants meet Dublin’s startup community and are fully immersed in it’s ecosystem.

An evening event in the Science Gallery will see students and guests mix over talks and panel discussions from Paul Adams (Intercom), Donal Cahalane (Teamwork) and Brian Caulfield (Draper Esprit) with a focus on the most crucial elements to growing a startup in Ireland today.

The week will conclude in Bank of Ireland’s Grand Canal branch on Friday evening, August 28th. Teams will go head to head and pitch their ideas and weeks work to a group of invited and ticketed guests.
