State of Play: event promoting opportunities in Ireland’s tech sector takes place today

Tech Nomads, the first of a new event series by Tech Tribes, takes place at The Complex, Arran St East, Dublin, today, Wednesday, 22 February at 3pm. The event is set to bring Ireland’s top tech talent face-to-face with the country’s most exciting tech companies, along with a series of panel discussions and presentations on a range of topics affecting the sector in Ireland today. The event will open with a panel discussion exploring the state of play in Ireland’s tech industry, featuring Tracy Keogh, Co-Founder of Grow Remote, John O’Dea, CEO of TechIreland, and Donnchadh Cullinan, Head of ICT HPSU for Enterprise Ireland.

Tech Tribes was founded by the teams behind Career Zoo and Dublin Tech Summit. Tech Tribes already has partnerships with the top 30 tech employers outside of Dublin, as well as Dublin-based startups that also facilitate hybrid and remote working.

The event’s objective is to create an atmosphere of collaboration where prospective employers can find individuals seeking a new challenge in their tech career. One emphasis is the potential for employers outside of Dublin to increase their talent pool, embracing the possibilities of remote and hybrid work. In the relaxed, gallery atmosphere of The Complex, Tech Nomads will allow employers to place their teams, tech, and culture in front of the relevant talent in their field, ultimately strengthening their offering and facilitating growth.

Tech Nomads will bring the opportunity to meet the teams from Jaguar Land Rover, Unum, Sidero, Kneat, Carelon, Ericsson, together with a host of startups and companies backed by Enterprise Ireland. The event is also supported by TechIreland and Grow Remote.

According to a new report by Zoom in collaboration with FRS Recruitment, Irish job posts offering remote and hybrid work are up 43% over 12 months, with 87% of remote and hybrid roles in the IT, accounting, and commercial sectors. In addition, figures published by the Central Statistics Office show that the digital sector employs more than 270,000 people in Ireland. It has been highlighted that employees in ICT have the highest average earnings in Ireland, with a combined wage of €8.5 billion recorded in 2019.
