Describe the company – the elevator pitch …

ScoobyBox is a monthly subscription service which caters to dogs and dog owners in the UK and Ireland. Each ScoobyBox contains 4-6 items including, toys, treats, accessories and pet hygiene products. We only send out the highest quality products as we wouldn’t send anything out that we wouldn’t give to our own dogs. Subscribers can sign up for 1, 3 or 6 month subscriptions.

We also operate the dog-themed content site which covers a wide range of canine news.

How are you different?

We are all passionate dog owners and we know from personal experience it is difficult to find quality canine products. We take the hassle away from pet owners by supplying them with a monthly care package. They also get to experience new and exciting products that they may not get to try from their local pet shop.

What will the company / product do well?

We place a massive emphasis on customer service and want all of our subscribers to have the best possible experience. We planned this out early in company development and decided we wanted to sell an experience to consumers. This means that even if they are not buying anything they still come to our social media sites and the ScoobyHub to hang out and get the latest doggy news.

Where are you based?

Our office is based in Dublin, Ireland.

When was the company launched?

The ScoobyBox site went live in the middle of March 2016. The initial company development began back in November 2015. We spent those 4 months before launch creating ScoobyHub, sourcing quality products and building the brand up by putting out a continues stream of content.

What have been your biggest wins to date?

We have only been live since the middle of March but managed to build up a solid number of subscribers for April’s box. The feedback was extremely positive from the customers and we are on course to triple our subscriber count for April. We will now be looking to scale rapidly as we go forward while maintaining the high quality the company has become accustomed to.

What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?

Our target market is dog owners in Ireland and the UK. We have found that people really love their dogs and are happy to buy them new goodies every month. We make this easier by sourcing the products and delivering them directly to their front door.

Tell us about your team?

Liam Brennan Co-Founder.

Liam has been involved in a number of different businesses and has a big passion for brand development and customer acquisition. He believes in the early stages of a start-up success will only be achieved by relentless hard work and persistence. “I fully believe that work ethic and persistence is the key to success, working smart is also important but will not achieve much if your work ethic doesn’t match up” He also thinks it is very important to stay on the offensive in business.“Sometimes things don’t go as expected, When this happens it is important to remain focused and don’t panic. The only way you will grow is by taking calculated risks and if something doesn’t work out then learn from it and adapt to the situation”He has had dogs from a young age and he currently owns a Jack Russell called Milly which he adores. Liam tells us ” Its great to own a company centered around dogs. I have loved animals from a young age so this is the perfect business for me”

Paul Carrick Co-founder
Paul has an extensive background in sales and marketing with a strong passion for developing customer relationships .

Paul is a extremely ambitious person who believes ambitions and dreams are only achieved through drive and non stop hard work .

“A normal working day for us at ScoobyBox is 15 hours as we believe hard work and motivation is the key to success”

He is an avid dog and animal lover and has a golden retriever since he was 18. Ben never leaves his side .
“Working with Scoobybox is a dream come through as I am developing my entrepreneurial skills every day and working to make dogs happy “

Gary Redmond – Co. Founder

Gary is the chief content editor at and has a clear vision for the social media and engagement policy.

Gary is passionate about attention to detail and doesn’t believe in selling yourself short, having studied Chemical Science in university he never envisaged himself being a writer, but he never likes to be pigeonholed and understands diversifying is the key to developing staying power in business.“You can never be just one thing, because we can always change our path, learning science you are taught to be rational and only rely on data, but with writing you can create something that wasn’t there before you began, and that offers me freedom to express.”I think building relationships are most important to a business, between our business partners and suppliers and most of all between ourselves and our customers, we want to be human at every opportunity and show we care about their dog as much as they do.

“The motto we use a lot is ‘Improvise, Adapt, Overcome’. I think it’s from the Navy SEALs. There has been many times during the startup phase that we were met with a seemingly insurmountable obstacle, but we put our heads together and managed to get past it, over and over again.”The best part about this business is it’s actually fun! If ScoobyBox can improve people’s relationship with their dog and make their dog’s lives happier in the process, then we can be satisfied with our work.

What are you long term plans for your product / company?

We are striving to have 10,000 subscribers within the next 18 months. Once we establish the subscription box side of the business we have plans to expand the brand into a number of different ventures. This has already started with the ScoobyHub, We are now looking into monetizing the content. The end goal is to build a large dog themed business.

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

Liam –I wouldn’t be able to get anything done without my iPhone and my iMac. I have had multiple iPhones and iMacs over the years and I love them.

Paul – My macbook is my pride and joy, all my work is done on it so I would be lost without it. I have also just purchased the samsung galaxy 7 edge which I am very impressed with.

Gary – My MacBook is my most important device to me, even though it is now a few years old it is still going strong! I also have a HTC M8, which is very good but doesn’t have full compatibility with my Mac but it’s a small price to pay for such a great phone.

What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?

The way technology is going with Virtual reality completely blows our minds. We have been following the development of the oculus rift for a while now and it really excites me. I would love if we could do something with it in the future.
