Describe the company – the elevator pitch.

Medpick is one app to connect customers to all of their medicines, wellness and healthcare product needs in 24 minutes. Right where they live. Using the Medpick platform, customers can order the products and select their local pharmacy to pickup, the same day. Medpick works with distributors to
coordinate deliveries to the store.

This benefits both the customer and pharmacy? the customer avoids long wait times in line or for delivery and therisk of not finding everything needed, the small neighbourhood pharmacy gains twice. An online platform, customer loyalty program and a way to earn revenue from goods they do  not always stock.

How are you different?

Medpick uses a local distribution network to deliver faster and more reliably than epharmacies. We partner with pharmacies at every 300 meters, ensuring you have a Medpick location near you, and work with local distributors to coordinate same day delivery. Epharmacies work on central distributorship models that deliver from between 4 to 15 days, a huge variance to bet on when expecting medication. We are enabling the local neighbourhood pharmacies to go digital and bringing in a revolutionising purchase of medicines in India.

Why will the company / product do well?

Pharmacies’ and customers’ needs aren’t meeting. Due to a combination of factors,
high competition, government price control, legal stipulations,
the Indian pharmaceutical industry and so on, pharmacies don’t have a wide range of stock,
online sales channels or large margins.
As a result, customers often have difficulty finding what they need in one place,
have no customer loyalty incentives, and find long epharmacy delivery times a hassle,
while pharmacies can’t accurately track their missed customer opportunities.
Medpick bridges that gap, connecting customers and pharmacies to give customers everything they need where they live.

Where are you based?

The head office is in Bengaluru, India where initial operations have begun. Medpick will expand around India.

When was the company launched?

Medpick started operations in June, 2016.

What have been your biggest wins to date?

Getting offline pharmacies, however small they are, to believe in the idea that they can compete with online pharmacies, and enrolling with us is the first step we have taken towards this goal.
Medpick has also been selected for the Alpha programme at Web Summit 2016 in Lisbon, and is the first
project of its kind to be featured there. We see Web Summit as an opportunity to form mutually beneficial
partnerships, gain some exposure and raise awareness and interest in our product.
The trip is largely funded through the generosity of Web Summit through subsidies,
the rest comes from our own pocket, so we’re hoping for good things.

What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?

Medpick has a very broad target base. 65% of online medication orders are for chronic diseases, which are repetitive orders, Medpick targets that segment as well as the occasional medication/healthcare products that people require for their wellness.

Tell us about your team?

Medpick’s team is young and driven. We’re always looking for new opportunities and ways to shake up the industry so we can improve life for customers and the healthcare sector at large.
We have energetic people as founders who are veterans in their respective industries, Medpick is helmed by Dr. Ranjit Kumar Makam.
The rest of the team is young and driven, with bold minds which enables them to find new avenues for growth.

What are your long term plans for your product / company?

We hope to be the onestop shop for every healthcare need a person has.

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

Smartphones have revolutionised every industry. So that would be our pick. The internet connected the world in ways never before seen,
and smartphones gave people the ability carry that power around in their pockets.
That means they can order on the go, and be kept up to date at any point in the order process.
It allows us to engage with our customers when it is best for them rather than with the asynchronous communication we had to rely on before smartphones – not only to advertise, but to educate and intervene.

What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?

Wearables are an innovation we can leverage to remind patients that it’s time to take their
medicines while tracking their health.
This would enable an end to end solution to the consumers

What do you plan to achieve with funding?

With funding, we plan to strengthen our technical infrastructure as well as expand into cities in multiple tiers. We aim to cover all major tier one, two and three cities.
