Describe the company – the elevator pitch …
GLUE VFX is a full service, 3d Animation & Visual Effects company based in Dublin.
We specialise in filming and compositing of visual effects and motion graphics for film, TV and corporate video.
How are you different?
GLUE offers VFX, 3d animation and motion graphics in addition to filming for a mainly corporate client base. We shoot, edit and supply our clients with HD, 4k or 360 (Virtual Reality) videos with high-end 3d animations. Our experienced team bring knowledge from the animation, film and computer games industries to ensure the best processes are used to match our clients budgets and deadlines.
Why will the company / product do well?
Video is proven to be naturally engaging, vital in offering easy to digest content and peerless in potential reach.
Video will account for 69% of all consumer internet traffic by 2017. (Cisco Systems)
We offer fully custom video services that others simply cannot.
We are a smaller but scalable business with less staff, we don’t have the overheads and operating costs of larger companies/competition.
We creatively and technically push the boundaries of VFX with the latest technology, while using skills from the film, games and animation industries.
Where are you based?
We are based in The Docklands Innovation Park in East Wall.
When was the company launched?
GLUE was established in August 2013 by myself after sixteen years freelancing within the industry. It was setup due to producers and directors of TV and Corporate videos being unable to fulfil clients’ needs in the area of video post production.
What have been your biggest wins to date?
Securing larger client contracts, returning customers and working on video projects for LEGO, OTTCO and MARS.
What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?
Film, TV producers and directors, marketing managers, businesses of all sizes in need of custom videos.
Tell us about your team?
We have a core team of 3 full time staff members as well as a number of freelance workers who come in on contract basis. Our experts have over 20+ years of experience in the Visual Effects, Motion Graphics and Design industries.
Ray Mongey – Managing Director
Ray has a proven ability to lead a team. He has nurtured a positive culture of leading through innovation, based on passion for the work involved, the need to continually learn and improve.
Yusuf Hasan – Production Manager/VFX Generalist
Yusuf is a visual effects generalist specialising in 3D and has studied multimedia for 5 years in both Dublin and London. With a systematic approach to work, Yusuf’s methodical execution ensures him to be a vital part of the GLUE team.
Dominik Mc Mahon – Creative Direction/VFX Generalist
Dominik is a digital artist with over ten years’ education and experience in areas such as graphic design, web design and game art. Proficient in 3D modelling and sculpting, he continues to prove himself to be an invaluable asset to the company.
What are your long term plans for your product / company?
We love technology and are always looking at new ways to make our jobs easier and our clients projects progress more efficiently by automating many of the processes involved in video production. If the repetitive tasks are easier to manage we can focus on the creative aspects of our jobs, making for better quality work being produced for our clients.
As well as corporate work, our team have created some great 3d and vfx work on a video to promote breastfeeding which will be promoted online next month.
With corporate and online videos paying the bills, we are in a position to focus (in the long term) on film vfx and we’re very excited to share some projects with the world shortly.
What are your favourite tech gadgets?
It has to be my smart phone, from family photos to scheduling emails, working on documents and setting reminders, it’s almost always in use. The nerd in me really likes the Microsoft Kinect which allows us to do motion capture and 3d scanning with the right tools at a fraction of the traditional costs.
What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?
I use my phone via voice commands in the car a lot, it would be great if it worked a little better although it has definitely improved over the last few years. Having my phone read articles I find online while driving is great but if it had a less robotic voice it would be a little easier on my ears.
