Describe the company?

ExamLearn ( is a Junior and Leaving Certificate website created to provide every secondary school student in Ireland with everything they need to tackle the exams. We offer detailed notes across a wide range of subjects, A-grade exam answers, essential study advice across all the subjects, and much more.

The goal at ExamLearn is to simplify the Junior Cert and Leaving Cert for all students. It is our mission to save students valuable time in their exam year and to allow any student achieve their maximum potential. We feel there is insufficient help online for Irish students so ExamLearn is here to combat this problem.

We also offer forums which are moderated by A-grade students and an ongoing blog giving all the secret tips to help you through your exams. ExamLearn was created by the students for the students. We know all about the hardship of these exams. However, we also know how to deal with the difficluties and allow you achieve anything you want. The creators all got maximum grades in their exams, so you know you are truly in safe hands.

Anything in life is possible once you put in the work. Every student is capable of truly getting high grades in the exams and, with the help of ExamLearn, there is no reason why they should not.

How are you different?

ExamLearn is made up of JC-Learn (Junior Cert version) and LC-Learn (Leaving Cert version). JC-Learn was created by the three 16 year olds – Johnnie Bell, Jack Manning and Eamonn Flannery. I believe the fact that we were this young but still created a successful business is quite uplifting for the youth of Ireland and is something very different. The three creators received a combined haul of 30 A’s between them in the Junior Cert, so everything on the site is of A-grade standard. LC-Learn was also created by students who got the highest grades across the country, so we stand out instantly.

ExamLearn is different for three main reasons. Firstly, we believe there is no other study website with quality content for Junior Cert and Leaving Cert students in Ireland. ExamLearn is ahead of any other study website for the exams, it is as simple as that, because no other study website offers exactly what students need.

Secondly, ExamLearn was created by students. The creators all know exactly what it is like, how you must prepare and the feelings of pride when receiving what you wanted. This relationship between the creators and students is priceless as we can easily relate to any problems students may have, and we are constantly helping students with free content and tips via email and our social media platfroms. I feel there is no disputing the fact that this is a lot better than a teacher or an adult in general trying to relate to the students needs. We interact with students everyday across all social media, giving them free tips and content – FaceBook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram.

Lastly, our website itself is extremely user-friendly and attractive, and this makes us instantly stand out. ExamLearn offers access to both JC-Learn and LC-Learn, while you can also go directly to the respective sites ( and At first glance, the websites can take your breath away with some beautiful images on the various pages. The websites are laid in a way that makes it as easy as possible for anyone to get exactly what they want as quick as they want – who would not like that? Not only this, but the general attractiveness of ExamLearn and the sense of a modern style to online learning from this website is undisputable. There is a blend of beauty and simplicity to the site, which helps anyone to learn in such an attractive online environment.

Why will the company do well?

ExamLearn will succeed because we work tirelessly everyday to improve it and we will never give up until we are the most popular study website in Ireland for the Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate. JC-Learn already has almost 10,000 members, and this figure is impressive as we have only been in business for one year. It shows our product is of very high quality and the feedback we receive is always positive. The website has recently been redesigned to make it more user-friendly, and the fact that we are constantly adding content means our progress will flourish in the future.

Students and parents are beginning to really appreciate the quality of our study notes on the various subjects, and this is why we will do well. The numbers of students revising for exams via study websites is gradually increasing so our new revolutionizing service will certainly make its mark on Irish education. We will succeed because we have tackled such a basic problem which is the difficulty of the Junior Cert, and we’ve decided to make a positive impact on the lives of the Irish people.

LC-Learn has only recently been launched but we are working relentlessly to attract as many students as possible very quickly, because we know our content is invaluable to them. In just a month, we have already got over 100 members. We are very confident that we will soon attract more attention for having great content, as we offer exactly what students need.

Where are you based?

Exam Learn is based in Dublin.

When was the company launched?

JC-Learn was launched in December 2015, while LC-Learn launched in December 2016, so ExamLearn essentially launched in December 2016 too. JC-Learn has been in business for a little over a year at this stage and the progress has been stunning. Not only have we amassed almost 10,000 students as members, but our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat has grown every day.

What have been your biggest wins to date?

We have won awards such as the senior category of DLR’s student enterprise awards and competed in the national final in Croke Park. We won the IEDR Optimise 2016 competition. As a result, a digital agency company called Matrix helped redesign our site for free and gave us valuable advice for our business. As well as that, we actually had an article in the Irish Tech news last year. We were also on the Sunday Business Show on Today FM. We’ve had articles on the Sunday Business Post, Yahoo Finance and Magic Mum too.

All of these were huge wins for us, but by far the biggest was the article we had on the Independent website. (

This article was so important for us as we received almost a hundred members over two nights. It was breathtaking and inspired us to work even harder.

What type of people are you trying to attract to your product?

Well, of course we try to attract students preparing for the Junior and Leaving Cert to ExamLearn. There’s about 60,000 students aged 14/15 studying for the Junior Cert and 55,000 aged 17/18 for the Leaving Cert, so this is our target market. However, our main target in our online marketing and advertising is usually parents of these students as they are the ones who will actually make the purchase of a ExamLearn membership.

Tell us about your team

There are three of us – Johnnie Bell, Jack Maninng and Eamonn Flannery. We are all students of Clonkeen College in Cabinteely, Dublin. We are all 17 years old now and in fifth year in school. Jack is highly skilled in relation to the technical side of the website itself, while the combination of Johnnie and Eamonn’s content work and idea generation allows us to improve always. Each creator has a strong work ethic and this is the main reason for our success thus far.

What are your long term plans?

We plan on increasing the content we have by adding content on more subjects. We also plan on adding new features such as online quizzes, timetable builders, exam builders, video grinds, webinars, mind maps and interactive oral content. With the new Junior Cert format being gradually introduced over the next few years across subjects, we plan on being the main study website in Ireland which provides students with content and information on this new exam format. In the long term, we would love for more teachers to interact with our service, so that we can help them teach their students. Education in Ireland is so conservative in relation to e-learning, especially when you compare it to other countries. We are here to change this.

What are your favorite tech gadgets?

We all agree that our favorite tech gadget is the Amazon Echo. The virtual assistant makes life so much easier. We love being able to ask what the time is or weather is like at any time! Although it completes small, simple tasks for you which you could just do yourself, it saves you time and that saved time builds up and becomes invaluable.

What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?

We wish we had the Samsung Gear Virtual Reality Headset. The whole concept of virtual reality is so exciting and is certainly something which will rapidly gain popularity.

How do people get in touch with you?
