Spearline Launches New Business Division to Create 30 New Jobs

Skibbereen to be Ireland’s first GDPR-ready town for May 25th

Spearline, the world’s largest phone number testing software provider has diversified its business offering with the launch of a new company, Spearline Risk and Compliance, along with its new software solution Spearline Data Protection. This new software focuses on supporting organisations and Data Protection Officers in meeting the new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements which come in to effect on May 25 2018.

Organisations can face fines of 2% – 4% of their annual turnover or €10-€20 million for non- adherence to GDPR so it is imperative that compliance is taken seriously. With the deadline of 25 May 2018 looming for the legislation to come into effect, Spearline Data Protection is well served to help all organisations in this area. Spearline Data Protection will enable organisations to manage privacy obligations and meet regulatory compliance, making Spearline the first wholly Irish owned company to offer this unique service.

Spearline, which was founded in 2003 by Kevin Buckley (CEO) and Matthew Lawlor (CTO) has a global presence in 60 countries and works with some of the world’s most influential businesses. Its latest move has already created 14 new jobs with 30 more to be created by the end of the year. This announcement comes soon after Spearline was awarded Cork Company of the Year at the annual Cork Chamber dinner.

Speaking of the launch of Spearline Risk and Compliance, Kevin Buckley, CEO, Spearline said, “Spearline Data Protection has been created by our software experts to support and guide organisations through GDPR, ensuring they are fully compliant… This new EU legislation is about prioritising the rights of people and the use of their data. Spearline Data Protection software supports companies in a straightforward way to uphold their GDPR compliance responsibilities.”

Ciara Lucy, Managing Director of Spearline Risk and Compliance said, “We know that every organisation is unique which is why we developed an easy-to-use software tool that allows organisations to pick and choose the modules that best fit their individual needs. While the new legislation is a welcome safety standard, it also poses a significant task for some organisations to roll out new compliance systems and procedures which is why we developed Spearline Data Protection… With the appropriate compliance framework in place, not only will organisations be able to show their customers and employees that they are trustworthy and responsible, they will be in a superior position to avoid significant fines and reputation damage.”

Spearline Risk & Compliance is on a drive to give back to the town of Skibbereen, with their time and expertise, to make sure that every business, small and large, have the know-how to get ready for GDPR. Spearline Risk & Compliance will run a free workshop on what is General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in conjunction with Skibbereen and District Chamber of Commerce at The West Cork Hotel 6.30pm, Tuesday 17th April. Once again Skibbereen, Ireland’s first 1 gigabyte town is keeping ahead of the curve with all things digital and will be on track to become the first town in the EU to get GDPR ready with this expert led workshop.
