Softcat, a leading provider of IT infrastructure products and services, today announces that it has created 18 new jobs during a successful first year since opening its Irish headquarters in Dun Laoghaire. The company will continue to invest in its Irish growth and expects to double its workforce over the next two years.

Softcat recently announced gross income invoiced of £1.41bn in its full year results, and the UK infrastructure and services giant is seeking new growth opportunities, including an expansion of its business in Ireland. Since opening its first non-UK office in Dun Laoghaire in August 2018, it has doubled its Irish customer base – with customers from both the public and private sectors.

The new hires will enable Softcat to grow and enhance its service offering, with a focus on areas it has seen significant demand for by Irish businesses; including hybrid cloud, digital workspace, IT intelligence and cyber security offerings. The company is recruiting for technical roles, especially in the areas of cloud and IT security, as well as sales positions.

Softcat is the largest technology reseller in the UK and has leveraged its strong partnerships to distinguish itself in the Irish market. It holds top level accreditations with world leading IT vendors – such as HP, Microsoft, Dell EMC, Check Point, Citrix, IBM and Adobe – enabling it to offer Irish customers a single independent point of purchase and the opportunity to avail of multiple strategic partnerships.

In the first year since establishing a base in Ireland, Softcat has been an active participant in the local community. For example, it recently installed Ireland’s first seabin in Dun Laoghaire Harbour, in conjunction with its partners HPE and HPI. Seabins are used to collect floating rubbish in the sea, helping to divert plastic from Irish waters. The initiative is emblematic of Softcat’s support of local sustainability efforts.

Charles Harman, Ireland Country Manager, Softcat, said: “The past 12 months have been a huge success for Softcat in the Irish market. Since establishing a local presence in Ireland, we have more than doubled our Irish business and have been far better equipped to support new and existing Irish customers. Capitalising on new opportunities has been key to Softcat’s sustained success and we’re excited to add to our talented Irish team to ensure continued growth here.

“Ireland is a very attractive location for investment for Softcat. As well as the business prospects here, Ireland represents a great recruitment opportunity, with a highly skilled workforce and a vibrant tech scene. We want to embed ourselves in Ireland by giving back to the community and creating high-value employment opportunities. This is an exciting time for Softcat, in Ireland especially, and we look forward to welcoming new team members on our growth journey.”
