This year’s general election promises to be the most interesting and exciting one in years, and with so many candidates standing for election, you may not want to be doorstepped by any politicians, you may be too busy to meet them or you may be too busy to research them. So how do you decide who you are going to vote for? You use smartvote.ie and they are no strangers to us here at Irish Tech News as my colleague Simon wrote about them last year.

SmartVote is the brain child of Keith Moore and Gordon Rose and it was officially launched last week in the Mansion House. It aims to help you chose which candidate running in the upcoming general election is right for you. Every candidate that will be running in this year’s general election has been asked thirty questions based on their policies and where they stand on various issues. All that you have to do is to go to smartvote.ie and answer the same thirty questions and you will then be matched with the candidate that best suits you, after your answers are compared with theirs. All the candidates in your constituency are ranked based on your answers and your views.

Some constituencies have more than 15 candidates running in the general election but by using SmartVote you will know within a few minutes which candidate/candidates are worthy of your vote. So why not spend 5 minutes on SmartVote so that you can get to know more about your local candidates and the upcoming election.
