Identify Measurable Goals

Every email you send to your verified email list should be linked to a clear and measurable goal, making it easy to monitor your results and compare different messages. This could involve asking your users to do anything from using a new website feature to purchasing your latest product.

The call to action should act as a starting point for each new email, with the rest of the content designed to encourage readers to click through. Monitor each message’s performance using a number of key metrics including inbox rates, open rates, and click-through rates in order to effectively track the success of each piece of content.

Clean Up Your Text

Most of us receive far more emails than we can read, so it’s crucial to catch your audience’s attention at the beginning of each message. Every piece of text should be directly linked to the email’s call to action, making it easy for your subscribers to understand the email in just a few seconds. Filler text should be edited out as much as possible.

The subject line is the first thing each customer reads, so it’s the most important part of every email. Each subject line should clearly state the value of the email and tell your readers why they should be interested in your content. A strong first impression is the best way to draw your audience in and make your content stand out.

Beyond the subject line, the rest of your email should be designed with both desktop and mobile users in mind. That means short sections of text broken up with clear subheadings which allow readers to scan the content quickly. Preview each email on a mobile device to ensure that it’s easy for all users to read.

Leverage Automation Workflows

Most email marketing solutions make it easy for you to create new automation workflows and send emails in response to specific triggers. These allow you to send a much higher quantity of content and target users who are more likely to be interested in your messages.

Abandoned cart workflows, for example, are directed at people who added something to their cart on your store but didn’t complete the purchase. Set one to send an hour or two after their visit, and another follow-up around a day later. You can also include exclusive discounts to add an extra incentive.

Grow Your List

Adding new users to your email list is crucial to successful email marketing. Use automation workflows to create a welcome email sequence, offering new users limited-time discounts when they subscribe.

Promote your email list on as many channels as possible, including social media. This creates a sales funnel which makes it easy for new users to learn more about your brand and become a long-term customer.

Email is one of the most effective marketing platforms, but each message needs to be carefully considered and crafted in order to achieve the best possible results.
