When and where is it on?

Smart Kitchen Summit Europe is June 11-12, 2018 at the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin.

How many years has it been going?

SKS launched in the U.S. in 2015 and we are about to launch the fourth year in the states and the first year in Europe.

What was the inspiration to start it?

Michael Wolf, chief analyst at NextMarket Insights and SKS founder had been watching the smart home and IoT markets for several years before noticing a quiet revolution happening in the kitchen. Tech was changing the way people cooked food, sourced food, found recipes and shopped for groceries. Those changes were going to have implications for business models in a variety of markets including food manufacturing, restaurants, grocers, appliance makers, designers and more. Wolf decided to create the Smart Kitchen Summit as a venue to bring these communities together to discuss the future of food and the kitchen and SKS was born.

What exciting things can people look forward to?

The topics SKS Europe will cover along with the variety of attendees from diverse backgrounds in both the tech and food worlds will make for an interesting event. Attendees will come together to discuss the evolution of the consumer meal journey with new cooking technologies emerging, the role of AI and IoT on food and the consumer cooking experience, the transformation of food retail & commerce, trends in kitchen appliances and more. We will also host a Startup Showcase competition where 8-10 selected startup finalists in food tech and the connected kitchen will be chosen to display their concept during our opening reception on the night of June 11.

What opportunities are on offer for those attending?

No event brings together the decision makers and disrupters from across the food, cooking, appliance, retail and technology ecosystems like SKS. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with new people, find partners and make deals at this year’s summit. The best way to understand how innovation is changing food, cooking and the kitchen is to see it, experience it, and touch it. SKS provides a platform for exciting startups, inventors, culinary makers and cutting-edge product companies to showcase what they are working on and let others experience it firsthand.

Who will be speaking?

SKS brings leaders across the appliance, food, technology, cooking, retail and restaurant industries – SKS Europe will include speakers from Electrolux, Thermomix, Tyson Foods, Deliveroo, Barilla, Recipe Guru, ReImagine Food, Freshub along with startups like Drop, Suvie and Whisk.

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

Prepare for some great networking and bring lots of cards – we know of dozens of meetings that have happened at past Summits that have resulted in partnerships, acquisitions, funding and new product launches. SKS brings together the right people who are all looking at the food tech space and trying to figure out how to position their company and what impact innovation is having on their business.

How can people book tickets / when does it usually sell out?

Tickets are on sale now on the website –  – with limited tickets, we expect it will sell out sometime in the next few months, well before the event in June. Now through March 31, tickets are offered at a discount with early bird pricing.

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

Our startup competition is exciting – applications are open now and any early stage startup across commerce, design, food tech, apps and appliances should apply. The Startup Showcase will give selected companies the ability to demo their concept to top executives in food and kitchen industries as well as funders and press. It’s a great event and has historically been an attendee and media favorite. Applications are open for startups to apply now through April 15, 2018.
