Scosche Industries have launched a range of accessories for the iPhone 13 series of devices. As they make use of MagSafe magnets, the previous iPhone 12 series devices will work too. Below we take a closer look at some of the accessories they have on offer.
The MagicMount Pro 2 is car mount for use with iPhone 12 or 13 series phones. The MagicMount Pro 2 is designed to mount the iPhone via their MagSafe magnets on the rear, without the need for a case or any other mounting assists. As a result, it is a very slim device and will be pretty much completely hidden behind the phone when in use.
The bottom of the device has a sticky plastic material that also acts as a suction cup. You can mount it to your windscreen or to a flat surface on the dash. The sticky plastic can be wiped down to clean it if necessary at a later stage.
When mounted to glass the suction cup and sticky plastic combination form a formidable grip. I had to apply huge amounts of force to start breaking it free, far more than would be experienced in a normal car ride.
Likewise, the magnets used for the mount grip the iPhone really well. The actual surface that attaches to the back of the iPhone is pretty small so when I attached it first I was a little concerned about what impact bumps in the road might have but the iPhone 13 Pro Max I used to test it out with stayed attached without any issues.
Also included in the pack is an adhesive magnetic strip that can be used to stick to the back of a case or different phone and allow you still use the MagicMount Pro 2 with it.
The MagicMount MSC is a similar style car mount to the Pro 2 but it is designed to make use of an Apple MagSafe charger to mount your device.
The MagicMount MSC has a plastic housing that can hold the Apple MagSafe charger in place and your device then mounts to that. The MSC also comes with a 20W USB-C car charger.
In use, it performs the same as the Pro 2 and will be handy for anyone who already has a MagSafe charger they can repurpose for use in their car.
The 3-in-1 Wireless charging stand is MFI and Qi-certified device that will allow you to charge your iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods all at the same time. If you are fully kitted out with Apple’s devices, then this is the charging device for you!
The device itself is very minimal so you can use it anywhere. It won’t look out of place on your office desk or bedside locker. The 3-in-1 Wireless charging stand comes with a 20W USB-C charger to supply power to the whole device.
As we aren’t relying on magnets here for mounting the phone, devices from the iPhone 8 onwards will work, as will any Apple Watch model and of course anything else that is Qi-compatible.
Combing 3 chargers into 1 can really tidy up your desk and get rid of a couple of cables. The device is easy to use and works well. It allows easy access/ viewing of your devices while they are charging so you can still interact with your iPhone or use your Watch as a clock at night time.
