The Dublin-based organisation was evaluated according to its skills and services offer, and its wider market reputation and performance

Science Gallery International, the Dublin-based organisation which oversees a global network of university-linked Science Gallery locations has today (09.02.21) announced that is has been awarded Best International Cultural Initiative at the Irish Enterprise Awards. The awards, organised by EU Business News, evaluated Science Gallery International according to its skills and services on offer, as well its wider market reputation, performance, achievements and contributions.

Science Gallery Wins Best International Cultural Initiative Award

Founded in Ireland, the organisation oversees a network of galleries based in leading universities across four continents, bringing together science, art, technology and design to deliver world-class educational and cultural experiences for young people. The galleries, pop-up programmes and touring exhibitions have reached millions of 15-25 year olds through participative transdisciplinary programmes – featuring emerging research and ideas from the worlds of art, science, design and technology. Over 5 million people have visited Science Gallery worldwide since opening in Dublin in 2008, and the network of universities have invested €180 million total to date in the network of galleries.

Commenting Executive Director of Science Gallery International, Dr. Andrea Bandelli, said: “Despite the ongoing uncertainty presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, this award has buoyed the Science Gallery team as we set out into a new year. It is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of the wider Science Gallery community in delivering a unique visitor experience with innovation at its heart, be that online or offline. It also captures the enduring appetite for Science Gallery’s blend of learning, which combines science and the humanities, and encourages collaboration and dialogue, and ideas and action.”

Last year, Science Gallery International delivered on its ‘Eight by 2020’ goal, with the signing of Emory University, Atlanta to its international network, and the organisation has an eye on further expansion this year.
