The Digital Hub, Ireland’s largest and most established cluster of technology, digital media and internet companies, is currently witnessing a growing demand from within its base of enterprise companies to support their need to scale while remaining in The Digital Hub.  In the past 12 months alone, a total of 12 companies based in The Digital Hub have expanded their operations in terms of both employee numbers and commercial office space.

This trend to scale is reflective of the wider Irish tech sector that is enjoying a period of growth and is indicative of The Digital Hub’s ability to accommodate and provide flexible leasing arrangements to support existing companies as they continue to expand.

Among some of the companies in The Digital Hub campus, located in the Liberties area of Dublin 8, who have enjoyed expansion and are close to doubling their workforce since moving in to The Digital Hub, is Artofus, developers of a software platform that enables cloud computer vision based on artificial intelligence; Bizimply, an Irish company that has developed an operations management platform transforming the way hospitality and retail businesses manage and engage with their employees; and Juvo, an award-winning digital and website development agency.

Mark Murphy, Director at Juvo, said: “Running our digital creative agency ‘Juvo’ from The Digital Hub has allowed us to scale up quite easily over the past 12 months, due to the flexible lease agreements, larger office space available, excellent facilities throughout and of course the central location.  All of this in turn helps us attract the right digital professionals, as the key to any successful business is the people!”

Commenting on the outlook for The Digital Hub in 2018, Fiach Mac Conghail, Chief Executive Officer said: “2018 is set to see a continuation of demand from within our cluster to support scaling businesses.   The Digital Hub remains strongly committed to supporting and providing our community of technology and digital media companies with the opportunities to learn from industry leaders and each other at regular seminars, workshops and meetups on our campus that we arrange throughout the year.” 

He continued: “We are also putting a renewed focus into revitalising the cluster dynamic to ensure more companies can really reap the benefits from being part of a wider digital community.”

Following the expansion of existing companies based within The Digital Hub, the cluster now numbers almost 85 established businesses, employing 732 people as at the beginning of January 2018. In the past 12 months, 16 new companies moved into The Digital Hub, comprising a 75:25 split between indigenous and foreign direct investment (FDI) businesses.

Giraffe Games is among one of the new indigenous companies that moved to The Digital Hub in 2017.  An interactive entertainment company, Giraffe Games is primarily known for very successful sports games for mobile phones and tablets. Since it was founded in 2013, the company has published sports games played by more than 80 million people worldwide.

Among the new international enterprises who moved to The Digital Hub during 2017 was the Wall Street headquartered Wachsman PR agency, specialising in the financial and blockchain technology sector.

Other companies of note to have moved to The Digital Hub in 2017 include US firm Quantum, who are a manufacturing IT enterprise solution provider, along with data driven training specialists, Kubicle, two animation production companies, Gingerbread Animation and Mooshku, and the Audi Dublin International Film Festival, whose 2018 festival programme runs from 22nd February until 4th March.

The Digital Hub currently has just over 70,000 sq ft of useable office space located across nine buildings, with a current occupancy rate of approx. 90%.

The Digital Hub Development Agency is the Irish state agency that manages The Digital Hub.  The Agency was established by the Irish Government under the Department of Communications, Climate Change and Environment and plays a key part in supporting the implementation of the National Digital Strategy.
