Samsung Ireland are now doing a recall of all the Galaxy Note7′ s that have been sold in Ireland.
A Samsung spokesperson told Irish Tech News “Customer safety is our top priority – following recently reported cases involving the Galaxy Note7, we have taken the decision to stop all sales and exchanges of both original and replacement Galaxy Note7 devices. Consequently, we have permanently discontinued production of the device.”
Samsung are advising all existing Note7 customers to stop using their device, back up their data, and switch it off. They are also working with their channel partners across Ireland to put in place a replacement programme which will allow their customers to exchange their Note7 for a Galaxy S7 or S7 edge. When they exchange their device they will be refunded the difference in price. Alternatively they can obtain a full refund. Details of the exchange programme will be available on the Samsung Ireland website.
Samsung also said “To all of our Galaxy Note7 customers, we are truly sorry that we have not met the high standard that you expect from Samsung. We thank you for your patience during this time, and apologise for the inconvenience we have caused.
“We would like to reassure you and all our Samsung customers that the Galaxy Note7 is the only device affected.”
