In a first for Ireland, Samsung has acquired the naming rights for the leafy Dublin suburb of Ranelagh, known as D6, which is to be renamed as the S6 district to coincide with the arrival of the S6 and S6 edge to Ireland on April 10th.
Gary Twohig, Director, Samsung Ireland said: “We’re delighted to confirm our commitment to Dublin by temporarily renaming D6 as S6 for the remainder of this year. At Samsung we’re always ahead of the curve when it comes to innovation; so after months of negotiations we’re thrilled to have secured these rights to the aspirational residential suburb. We look forward to the Samsung S6 signage being installed in the area in the coming days.”
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge will be available nationwide from 10th April, from operators and Carphone Warehouse with preorders starting this week.
