After many leaks, Samsung have made the Galaxy Note 8.0 official. Exactly as the leaks depicted, it is basically a blown up version the the Note II and can in fact make and receive calls.
Spec wise the tablet is fairly uninspiring and looks like it is being placed to compete with the Nexus 7 and the iPad mini. Pricing hasn’t been announced but I think it will be key to the success of this device considering the competition it faces.

Unless Samsung decide to sell these at a loss it is hard to see where this tablet will find it’s market. The Note II retails for over €600 with similar specs. Taking into account the extra cost for the Note 8.0 it would stand to reason that Samsung won’t be able to compete with the €250 to €330 price range of the Nexus 7 and the iPad Mini.
The device is due to ship by the end of the second quarter and pricing will be confirmed before then.
