Rent the Runway has announced the appointment of Dorothy Creaven as Managing Director & Site Lead for Ireland at their new European HQ in Galway.
This appointment comes shortly after Rent the Runway announced the opening of their new technology office in Galway city and the creation of 150 product and software development jobs. This is the US-based company’s first international office.
Bringing extensive experience in scaling enterprise software development teams, Dorothy Creaven joins Rent the Runway with an impressive background in software engineering, which includes being recognised as one of Ireland’s top 25 female engineers in 2017.
A graduate of NUIG, Creaven said, “As Managing Director, my primary objective is to recruit best-in-class software engineering talent for our EU engineering base in Galway. Having worked with rapid growth companies for most of my career both in the region and nationally, I am confident that our search will yield a diverse and talented team that will contribute to the growth of this truly disruptive company.”
Rent the Runway is a privately owned company and employs 1,800 people where 91% are either women and/or minorities. The company’s technology team is 45% female, and 80% of leaders at the company are women.
Rent the Runway is the company that created the world’s first living, sustainable closet by enabling women to rent versus buy their clothing. Rent the Runway, headquartered in New York City, was co-founded in 2009 by Harvard Business School graduates Jennifer Hyman and Jennifer Fleiss as an answer to the modern woman’s desire for constant newness by offering a rotating wardrobe that is also a smart, sustainable choice.
