This book dives deeper and includes expert perspectives on issues like penetration testing and ethical hacking.

Answering questions such as: ‘What is the best way to get a red team job?’, ‘How can someone gain red team skills without getting in trouble with the law?’, and ‘What differentiates good red teamers from the pack?’, Tribe of Hackers Red Team includes inspiring interviews with some of the world’s most influential security specialists including David Kennedy, Rob Fuller, Georgia Weidman and more.

Review of Tribe of Hackers Red Team:  Offensive Cybersecurity

There is a lot that is good with this book, so first lets talk about what gets in the way of this being a really good book. The font size! Why oh why make it this small. There is just no need, and it means you can’t engage with it in a relaxed way, without carefully preparing the right level of reading light or finding a magnifying glass. We don’t need glasses to read, yet, but too many books like this and we might.

There are 47 people interviewed in this book, but it is less than 300 pages long, so an increased font size would not make this book over long, but it would actually make it a pleasant experience for the reader, which surely has to be factor if you are going to put this out as a hard copy – where we can’t expand the font size unlike the e-book version.

Moving onto the positive aspects of this book, it does a good job of explaining the role of Red Team hackers. The editors have curated a good range of industry experts, and it is a smart and helpful idea to include their twitter handles too, so that you can then follow them and check out their feeds. If you are hoping to work in this space then this book offers good insights and all of the respondents have taken the time to give honest and helpful tips on the best way to progress your career accordingly.

There’s a lot to like in this book, but did we mention that the size of the text is a killer?
