Realex Payments Announced as Headline Sponsor for the Web & eCommerce Awards

Realex Payments and the Web & eCommerce Awards are joining forces for the seventh year running to recognise Ireland’s best websites across a range of categories that encompass news and media, entertainment and arts, technology and social, government, education and community, commerce, mobile and technical.

The awards, which are now in their eighth year, recognise the best websites in Ireland, as selected from a list of public nominations. Previous winners include IrishTimes.com, Luas.ie and of course, Irish Tech News last year. Nominations for the 30 categories are now open to the public and all categories are free to enter.

New categories have been added for Best Sports News Site and Best Podcast, in reflection of the high growth that these areas have experienced in the past few years. This year, there will also be an award for the Most Influential Website in Ireland Ever, which will give an interesting insight into the websites that have made an impact in Irish society.

Nominations are open until 4pm on August 20th. The shortlist will be announced on September 2nd and the finalists on September 29th.

Commenting on the announcement Martin O’Leary, Head of Marketing at Realex Payments, said:

“At Realex Payments, we love to support Irish eCommerce businesses and web developers, and the Web & eCommerce Awards are a great way to give recognition to outstanding work. They’re also a good opportunity to meet with others in the web community, in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.”

Awards Organiser, Damien Mulley, added:

“We’re delighted that Realex Payments, a home-grown Irish success story, is supporting us and the Irish web developer community to get deserved attention for all those who build websites in Ireland.”

“Our seven years working together have been great fun, and they’ve helped us to go from an event with 200 people attending, to what we estimate will be 600 people this year.”

The Realex Payments Web & eCommerce Awards will take place in the RDS Concert Hall on October 15th. The evening will be hosted by 2fm’s Rick O’Shea.
