When and where is it on?

Dublin, Ireland at Clontarf Castle on April 30th 2019 with Partners Semtech, Mouser, Espressif & Python Ireland …and all 3 of Pycom’s founders.

How many years has it been going?

Dublin will be our first event, although we have hosted many events of this kind before. This will be our first time organising it under the banner of the Pycom #GOINVENT World Series.

What was the inspiration to start it?

We love meeting and working with our community and getting to hear about their projects and challenges first hand, so this was the inspiration for wanting to organise and host a series of events. We’ve focused on enterprise IoT devices, software or tools for the Industrial Internet of things, all of which are part of a booming emerging market where we know our solutions can help. There’s no such time as the present and we know of growing number of developers already working on projects or interested in the maturing IoT sector.

LPWAN, LoRa, NB-IoT and SigFox are now mainstream network technologies that are key players for sustainability goals. They are also part of a 0G communication standard which could help us achieve environmental and energy reduction objectives in an increasingly connected world. Pycom works with customers in a network agnostic way letting the developers take the lead on which networks they want to work with.

What exciting things can people look forward to?

Attendees can look forward to a workshop-style session, with an introduction to MicroPython and the Pycom IoT stack.

We will also be sharing our insights into how to get from concept to manufacture and then out to market – after all, while we’ve worked with a number of customers to help them deliver their projects we’ve also done it ourselves, working on our own portfolio getting it to market. We’ll also tell you how it can be done well and in a matter of months with the right partners.

We might even let you sneak a peek at our latest products.

What opportunities are on offer for those attending?

Every developer will walk out of the event with a connected Proof of Concept for an IoT device or application. The premise is to enable them to convert their ideas into a tangible outcome and to help them look at options for commercialisation and go to market. This means that when they leave the workshop they’re ready for early stages of testing their concept including pilot or show-and-tell to their own customers to solicit early market feedback. We want to teach them some of what it takes to get to successful product development, pilots and deployments of Industrial Internet of Things devices utilising today’s LPWAN technologies.

Our founders and subject matter experts are present on the day and it’s those first-hand conversations that are often really useful for people just starting out or who need a bit of alignment to accelerate their projects.

Attendees will also receive a full Pycom IoT development kit worth €96 which they’ll get to keep and take home, good food and drink on the day and a lot of fun while we’re at it.

Pycom Development kit includes:

1 x FiPy

1 x Expansion board

1 x LTE-M Antenna

1 x LoRaWAN/SigFox Antenna

1 x PyCase

You’ll get to explore the latest network technology, including LTE-CAT M 1 & NB-IoT, provision of service depending, and news about our recently announced our partnership with Vodafone.

Who will be speaking?

We’re kicking off this first event with all 3 Pycom founders Fred de Haro, Bettina Rubek Slater and Daniel Campora present with other members of the Pycom team as well as Pycom Ambassadors and members from our Partner organisations Semtech and Python Ireland.

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

Get to know a little bit about Python or MicroPython, the various LPWAN networks (LoRa, Sigfox, Cellular NB-IoT) and perhaps Low Power / Low Data IoT devices and how they are different from traditional wireless devices.

… and come with good energy and an open mind.
