How many years has it been going?

Celebrating 25 years, Plato was established in 1993 in Dublin through partnership with the four Dublin Local Enterprise Offices. It is part of a European wide network that originally started in Belgium in 1988.

What was the inspiration to start it?

There was a need to help the successful development of indigenous small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

What exciting things can people look forward to?

The unique aspect of Plato is the large company involvement. Each group of SME Owner managers (about 15 in each group) meets for a three hour meeting one morning a month. Their group is led by two or three large company managers from the likes of Ericsson, Microsoft, Paypal, Ulster Bank, IBM, Novartis and a number of other large companies. The monthly group meetings take place at the large company premises.

What opportunities are on offer for those attending?

By joining the 18 month Programme commencing on April 12th SME Owner Managers will be able to improve their management skills and grow their businesses as a result.

Who will be speaking?

The guest speaker at the launch this Friday in Croke Park, is John Tuohy, Co_Founder and ex CEO of Nightline/Parcel Motel and current CEO of SCIO Ventures.

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

To commit to attending the monthly meeting and doing the practical assignments and being prepared to open up about your business.

How can people book tickets / when does it usually sell out?

People can attend the launch as a networking opportunity whether or not they sign up for the new Programme by emailing dublin@plato.ie.
