Plastic is killing our oceans and marine life however there are a number of ways that Blockchain technology is helping.

BSAF have launched reciChain, in Canada as a Deloitte report in 2016 found Canadians only recycled 11% of plastic Plastic recycling is now being monitored using Blockchain-powered platform to track and trace Dell’s packaging using VWMare.

German polymer manufacturer Domo, the German company Covestro and the Dutch start-up Circularise are using a Blockchain-powered platform to ensure transparency of origin of material and its environmental impact Adidas claim they will make 11 million trainers from recycled plastic from our oceans Henkel AG.

Retailer Marks & Spencer working with Plastic bank who have recycled 5,000 tonnes, giving tokens for plastic waste to help low paid to look after their environment in Indonesia to Egypt to Brazil to the Philippines Plastic bank and SC Johnson aims to recycle 30,000 tonnes of plastic incentivising people to pick up plastic waste for tokens.
