Switcher.ie, the independent price comparison and switching service, has announced the nominees for this year’s annual Switcher.ie Awards, where Irish consumers get to have their say on the services being provided by the nation’s telecoms companies.
Now in their 5th year, the Awards will shine a light on the best broadband and TV providers and products in the Irish market. And, with the telecoms sector playing an increasingly important role in consumers’ lives, this year the awards have been expanded to highlight the best of the mobile industry too.
There will be 22 awards presented on the night, including the coveted Best Broadband Provider and Best Mobile Operator awards, recognising the broadband and mobile providers in Ireland that have achieved the highest overall customer ratings across all categories.
Virgin Media leads the way in the broadband and TV categories, with 15 nominations, while Vodafone is nominated in all seven mobile categories. As the only customer-voted awards of their kind in the country, the awards serve to highlight what real customers think of their provider’s performance across a range of areas like technical support, customer service and TV content.
Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at The Marker Hotel on Thursday, 1 February.
A full list of broadband award categories and nominees is available at https://switcher.ie/broadband/awards/, while mobile award categories and nominees can be viewed at https://switcher.ie/mobiles/awards/.
Eoin Clarke, Managing Director of Switcher.ie, said: “Competition in the telecoms market is fierce, which is great news for customers. But, while the choice and variety mean that they can make significant savings by shopping around, the sheer volume of providers and plans can also make it more difficult to find the best deal. These awards are part of our ongoing commitment to help consumers navigate this busy market, find the best plans, and save money.
“Our free broadband and TV comparison tool and SIM-only mobile comparison allow consumers to easily compare plans. On top of this, these annual awards provide important information to help people make more informed buying decisions and to learn from other consumers’ actual experiences of the providers and plans.
“As the only awards of their kind in Ireland that give customers a real voice, it’s great that they are growing. The introduction this year of new mobile categories in the awards for the first time will add an important element to the event, and will help to give customers a well-rounded view of the whole telecoms market.”
