SafeBettingSites.com’s recent data release shows a collective gross revenue of $334m for top three Nintendo mobile games, 30% less than what both of the top two gaming apps on mobile devices earned in one month.
Nintendo put huge investment and focus into their ‘Switch’ console, but it has held their mobile activity at a standstill. After surpassing $200m in player spending on Mario Kart, it seems the popular gaming franchise have slowed down and are putting all their eggs into their console basket.
Tencent’s Honor of Kings currently leads the line for most revenue generated annually by a mobile game, hitting $257.5m in player spending in March. This capped an impressive 63% growth for the app year-over-year.
Another Tencent mobile game follows up Honor of Kings in second, that being PUBG Mobile with $240.5m generated in player spending.
Nintendo Knocked Off Mobile Gaming Perch
Fire Emblem Heroes was Nintendo’s leading mobile game in terms of annual player spending between April 2020 and March 2021, with $163m generated, but still this is 36% less than what Honor of King’s alone made in the month of March.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp ranked at number 3 for Nintendo’s annual revenue from mobile gaming player spending, with $78m generated. This was followed by Dragalia Lost and Dr.Mario World, with $22m and $6m generated respectively, to make up the top 5.
The data release by SafeBettingSites.com proves that Nintendo have taken their foot off the gas when it comes to mobile gaming, and with the boom of the Switch console, perhaps it is Tencent’s time to truly take over the mobile gaming market.
