NEW VODAFONE IRELAND SOLUTION TO SUPPORT BUSINESS IOT ADOPTION

Vodafone Ireland has announced its entry into the Application as a Service (AaaS) market with the introduction of a new app development platform called Vodafone Business Invent.  The new platform allows for the creation of bespoke Internet of Things (IoT) solutions that are designed specifically for a myriad of business needs.

The Vodafone Business Invent platform will allow for the rapid creation of IoT apps so businesses of all sizes in Ireland can avail of benefits such as, connecting assets, improved productivity, cost reduction, enhanced customer experience and the ability to turn their data into actionable insights, without needing the support of an in-house IoT specialist.

Building secure, reliable and relevant IoT solutions is a major challenge that is solved by AaaS. Vodafone will work with businesses to understand their specific needs and design a solution tailored to address those requirements. By bringing together connectivity, app development, data insights, devices, and a fully managed service, this new offering moves the company from providing connectivity-only services, to offering end-to-end IoT solutions for businesses.

From a macro perspective, Ireland will benefit from quicker and easier access to smart city technologies because of platforms such as Vodafone Business Invent, as developers will now have access to well-tested and developed capabilities such as alerting, monitoring, dash boarding, and device modelling.  Having all these tools easily accessible in a development platform will reduce development time and cost significantly, meaning customisation for a wide range of different sectors is now more accessible than ever. Businesses of all sizes from start-up developers to enterprises can now quickly create smart solutions without needing to recruit entire specialised development teams.

Vodafone Business Invent is fully integrated within Vodafone’s existing IoT managed connectivity platform, providing the speed and flexibility of a global IoT SIM, with industry-recognised security.

Debbie Power, IoT Country Manager at Vodafone Ireland, said: “Vodafone is the global leader in providing IoT connectivity. The introduction of Invent extends our portfolio and will help democratise the IoT landscape by giving businesses connectivity, device, app development, insights, hosting and a fully managed service from one provider. This is a huge step forward in terms of business connectivity, and represents a wider drive from Vodafone to remove the barriers to digitalisation and give businesses access to the latest technology. We are already in talks with customers in healthcare, utilities and asset tracking about using the platform and there is much anticipation about its capabilities.

Vodafone Ireland’s global connections for its IoT technology has grown 35% year-on-year. This new application-as-a-service offering is consistent with the delivery of other IoT firsts from Vodafone Ireland such as Narrowband-IoT, IoT Express, and Vodafone Automotive”.
