New Direct Flight Dublin -Tel Aviv with EL AL, Starting May 2020

New Direct Flight DUB-TLV with EL AL, Starting May 2020

Ireland Israel Business is delighted to announce that our long-running campaign to promote a direct air route between Ireland and Israel has been successful! It can now be revealed that EL AL, Israel’s national airline, will commence THREE scheduled weekly flights between Dublin and Tel Aviv, starting May 2020.

Tickets to the new European destinations will go on sale from September 4, with flights to Dublin scheduled to commence on May 26. El Al will operate the new routes on its Boeing 737 aircraft, featuring both economy and business classes on-board.

Major Boost for Irish-Israeli Trade

Direct flights to Dublin are likely to significantly strengthen the economic and trading relationship between Ireland and Israel, creating a unique bridge between two of the most innovative economies in the region. While Dublin is the European headquarters for tech giants such as Google, Facebook, Yahoo, eBay, Paypal, Dropbox, and Airbnb, Tel Aviv is home to some of the world’s biggest centres of research and development.

The announcement comes of the back of a series of significant Israeli investments in Ireland, including the official unveiling of Wix’s new EMEA HQ in Dublin.

The new flights to Ireland are also likely to have a major impact on how travelers from Israel reach North America. Dublin Airport is home to a US Preclearance (USCBP) facility, enabling US-bound passengers to undertake US immigration and customs inspections at the airport. Israeli passengers will also be able to take advantage of the large number of North American destinations available for connection from Ireland.

“The announcement of a direct flight between Dublin and Tel Aviv is a game changer for Israeli companies looking to access European markets following Brexit,” said Mattan Lass, Managing Director of Ireland Israel Business, a Dublin-based consultancy firm dedicated to boosting Irish-Israeli trade.

“It is also a huge help for Irish companies that want to benefit from Israel’s unique expertise in tech innovation. Ireland Israel Business has led the tech community’s campaign for a direct flight since 2012. We are delighted to see that our efforts have borne fruit.”

El Al CEO Gonen Usishkin said, “As part of our growth strategy, we are working to extend our current operations and expand our network of routes and open routes to new destinations. In the last quarter we commenced new routes to San Francisco, Las Vegas and Manchester in addition to a new route to Nice in the first quarter. We have also announced new routes to Tokyo and Chicago, which will begin operating in March 2020 and today we have announced new routes to Dublin and Dusseldorf, which will begin operating for the summer of 2020.”
