Munster Technological University (MTU) is delighted to announce the launch of 25 new postdoctoral research positions under the TU RISE (Technological University Research and Innovation Supporting Enterprise) programme. This exciting opportunity invites researchers to join MTU’s vibrant academic community and contribute to innovative multidisciplinary projects across a variety of disciplines in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (AHSS).

MTU has established itself as a leader in research and innovation within Ireland’s Technological University sector. The university proudly boasts the largest research and innovation expenditure in the TU sector, surpassing €30 million annually, and holds the top position for direct-funded research income from industry partnerships. This strong foundation enables MTU to offer an exceptional research environment that supports impact-driven inquiry and collaboration.

The TU RISE programme, which is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the ERDF Southern, Eastern & Midland Regional programme 2021-27, offers researchers the chance to work on one of 10 dynamic and forward-looking projects.

Each postdoctoral researcher will receive comprehensive support from MTU’s experienced research supervisors and the dedicated team at the recently expanded MTU Research Office. Positions are fully funded, with salaries ranging from €46,305 to €54,307 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to salary, researchers will benefit from budgets allocated for travel, IT equipment, and other project-related discretionary expenditures.

Each position is for a duration of 24 months, with successful candidates expected to commence their roles no later than 1 January 2026. Research will be conducted at one of MTU’s campuses in Cork or Kerry, depending on the specific project assignment.

These fellowships represent an outstanding opportunity for postdoctoral researchers to advance their careers, develop high-impact research, and contribute to MTU’s growing reputation as a research-intensive institution. The university encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds who are eager to work in an interdisciplinary setting and help shape the future of innovation in Ireland.

Applications for the TU RISE postdoctoral positions are now open and will close on 30 June 2025. Full details, including project descriptions and application instructions, can be found at the MTU vacancies portal.
