Mozilla, the not-for-profit behind Firefox, has launched a brand new, large-scale marketing campaign called UNFCK The Internet.
Firefox is attempting to start a movement to create a better internet. They want to raise awareness that viewers should regain control off of those who violate their privacy to sell products we don’t need.
UNFCK The Internet- Mozilla’s campaign to make the internet a better place
Their aim is to stop companies like Facebook and YouTube from contributing to the disastrous spread of misinformation and political manipulation.
Mozilla Firefox has been fighting for a better internet, for almost twenty years. They are a non-profit backed organization that exists for the sole purpose of protecting the internet.
Their products, like the Firefox browser, are designed with your privacy in mind. They want to prove that you can have an ethical tech business that works to make the internet a better place for all of its users.
Mozilla Firefox believes that Big tech has gotten too big. They want people to love and appreciate the internet and not fall foul of the many scams that are circulating across the world digitally.
Through their campaign, they have outlined five ways to safely conduct oneself on the internet:
Hold political ads accountable for misinformation: Download the Firefox extension that shares the political ads you see on Facebook to a public database so they can be tracked and monitored.
Watch The Social Dilemma on Netflix & read our recommended readings from diverse voices: This #1 trending documentary unpacks the issues of the attention economy, and our compendium broadens the discussion by bringing more perspectives to the conversation.
Get the Facebook Container extension: Prevent Facebook from following you around the rest of the web — which they can do even if you don’t have an account.
Flag bad YouTube recommendations: This extension lets you report regrettable recos you’ve been served, so you can help make the engine better for everyone.
Choose independent tech: Learn more about other independent tech companies and their products. Like shopping locally, using products like Firefox is a great way to vote your conscience online.
About Mozilla Firefox
Mozilla Firefox, or simply Firefox, is a free and open-source web browser developed by the Mozilla Foundation and its subsidiary, the Mozilla Corporation. Firefox uses the Gecko layout engine to render web pages, which implements current and anticipated web standards.
Firefox was released on November 9, 2004, and challenged Internet Explorer’s dominance with 60 million downloads within nine months. Firefox is the spiritual successor of Netscape Navigator, as the Mozilla community was created by Netscape in 1998 before their acquisition by AOL.
