More high-profile speakers revealed for the Secure Computing Forum

DataSolutions, the specialist IT distributor, has revealed more speakers for this year’s Secure Computing Forum. The conference, hosted in partnership with INM Events, is being held at the RDS, Dublin, on Thursday, 12thSeptember 2019.

Four hundred delegates are expected to attend the conference which will be opened by Charlie Flanagan, the Minister for Justice and Equality. The conference will give attendees an insight into the latest cyber-attack techniques, as well as the best methods for prevention and protection, with a wide variety of expert speakers and a number of panel sessions.

These include the following:

  • John P Carlin, former assistant attorney general for the US Department of Justice’s National Security Division, will address the ongoing digital battle against hackers, online terrorist recruiters and spies. Carlin also served as Chief of Staff and Senior Counsel to FBI Director Robert S Mueller III.
  • Meanwhile, ex-hacker Mustafa Al-Bassam will discuss hacktivisim, hacking for political activism. He will also discuss his experience within the hacking group, LulzSec, which made headlines around the world for a series of high-profile hacks.
  • Jamie Bartlett, technology journalist and author of The Dark Net, will provide insights into how the dark web is being used within the world of cybercrime, how people’s information is stolen and how this will evolve over the coming years.
  • Paddy McGuinness, recent Deputy National Security Adviser in the UK’s Cabinet Office responsible for intelligence security and resilience, will explore the higher impact cyber risks for businesses.
  • Greg Williams, editor-in-chief of WIRED magazine, will discuss how criminals and hackers are impacting the world.
  • Eddie Doyle, global security strategist at Check Point Research, will take to the stage to discuss the role of Artificial Intelligence in relation to the prevention of cybercrime.
  • Conor McCaffrey, Certified Information Privacy Professional and Privacy Consultant for OneTrust, will talk about how businesses can bolster their incident response plan across their privacy and security teams whilst maintaining compliance with global regulations.
  • Data Protection Commissioner Helen Dixon, who is responsible for protecting the rights of individuals regarding the use of their personal data, will be participating in a fireside chat with Adrian Weckler, Technology Editor at Independent News & Media.
  • PJ Hough, executive vice president and chief product officer for Citrix, will share his expertise from 25 years in the industry.

There will also be a large exhibition area with leading technology vendors including Check Point, OneTrust, Citrix, Edgescan, RSA Security and HPE Aruba. Demonstrations will be running all day and will cover key areas, such as how mobile devices can become the backdoor for network breaches.
