Interview with Alastair Lidel, organiser of the Monaco Blockchain Conference

What is the Monaco Blockchain Conference?

The Monaco Blockchain Conference is a coming together of some of the leading investors into the technology sector from around the world. This event is not trying to sell 10,000 tickets it is very much about the quality of guests. It is a chance for Funds, Family Offices and High Net Worth investors to learn at a much deeper level the impact Blockchain is already having, learn about how to spot a strong project and of course be pitched by some of the leading Blockchain projects out there right now.

What made you decide to put the event on?

With literally thousands of Blockchain events taking place around the world every year there was certainly no shortage of options for people to go to. I felt that the biggest issue was companies paying pretty high costs to conferences with no real or clear path to getting in front of investors which let’s face it is the main aim of any Blockchain project until it is fully funded. So we decided that it was time to bring down the numbers on the day and make sure projects were able to relax, discuss, pitch and network in an investor rich audience.

Why Monaco?

Monaco is not somewhere you would instantly think of when you say ‘Blockchain’ but for us the reasons are pretty simple. Blockchain as a technology and industry is already running deep within some of the largest companies in the world, from American Express, JP Morgan Chase, Lamborghini and many more. When you look at Monaco it controls approx. $400 Billion of Investments each year from a country that is only 2 square kilometers in size. That is not something that could or should be ignored. There is most definitely a hunger for knowledge and learning in the Principality to gain a deeper understanding of Blockchain, not just as a technology but as an investment opportunity.

How will the conference be structured?

As much as I am sure everyone enjoys sitting in the same seat for 7 hours straight this is not how we are doing it. We want to create a very relaxed environment where people can listen to some of the worlds leading experts on market making, tokenomics or how to get from Seed to Series A. We will have a beautiful lunch out on the sun terrace for people to talk and connect. We will have a pitching competition from some really exciting Blockchain companies. Followed by a champagne networking event on the roof of the Fairmont at the stunning Nikki Beach. For those wanting to continue discussions into the evening we will also be holding a 500 person cocktail party at Twiga in Monte Carlo.

Who is coming?

We are very lucky to have some true pioneers and leading figures joining us. The conference will be opened by Giuseppe Ambrosio – President of the Monaco Single and Multi Family Office Association, Oliver Harris – Head of Crypto Assets Strategy at JP Morgan Chase, Shawn Broderick – General Partner at SOSV. We have the author of the fascinating Book Tokenomics: The Crypto Shift of Blockchains, ICOs and Tokens – Thomas Power. We have Anne Ravanona CEO & Founder of Global Invest Her, Athanasios Ladopoulos – Chief Investment Office for LAPO AG and Simon Cocking – Chief Editor of the IRish Tech News and Top 5 global advisors on Blockchain plus many more. We have investments funds from throughout Europe joining us, Family Offices and individual investors as well as the leaders from some of the top Blockchain projects of course.

Why should people come?

There are 2 main types of people who should not be missing this event. The first is those who represent or personally make investments. Blockchain may still be in its infancy but we all know knowledge is power so if you are reading this and you think Blockchain is just Bitcoin then I would strongly encourage you to come and join us. You will learn about the technology, hear from investors on their own market entry points, what they look for in a project. On the other side of the coin (No pun intended) This is the perfect event for Blockchain Projects to be coming to if they are looking to raise capital. They will not attend an event in 2019 that has a better ratio of investors to projects and the chance to pitch to an audience in this setting is a really great opportunity. Along with our Media Partners such as CoinTelegraph and Monaco Life the exposure they will enjoy by attending and pitching will be out of this world.

When and Where does it take place?

The event is being held at the Fairmont Hotel in Monte Carlo, Monaco on Friday May 31st 2019.

How can people get a ticket?

For those wanting to attend they can go to our website or if you are a Blockchain project looking to pitch then you can get in touch with me directly at [email protected]

My advice would be to not delay in getting your ticket, on the day we want the event to be private and exclusive so will not increase the number of tickets available. Finally, we look forward to warmly welcoming you in May.
