If I asked you to name an inventor I bet you would name someone such as Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, or even Alan Turing but not someone such as Mary Anderson, Ada Lovelace or Grace Hopper. Mary Anderson invented windscreen wipers, Ada Lovelace was the first computer programmer and Grace Hopper invented the first compiler for a computer programming language.
