The first project under the Fund for Regeneration and Rural Development completed
The Hub is part of a network of high-speed broadband facilities in rural areas in the Gaeltacht
Emphasis on job creation in the creative and digital media sectors
Opened Michael Ring, TD, the Minister for Rural and Community Development, officially opened today the industry’s first completion of the financing provided by Regeneration Fund and Rural Development of the Government, established as part of Project Ireland 2040 .

“The Regeneration Fund and Rural Development – worth € 1 billion and administered by my Department, an integral part of Ireland 2040. Project aims to support strategic projects, large scale has the potential to go to the economic and social promotion in rural areas in Ireland.
One of the excellent projects such Digital Hub and Innovation gteic @ Spiddal, developed here in Spiddal by Údarás na Gaeltachta, and I was delighted to be able € 548,887 allocated from the Fund to the project completion . ”
“Three gteic @ Spiddal, help to create employment opportunities and vibrant facility will be modern, and high-speed broadband available to start-ups and established enterprises. Through the Hub, will support employment in the local area directly and indirectly and will have a particular emphasis on the creativity and digital media sectors

Hub funding approved in the first call gteic on projects funded under the Fund for Regeneration and Rural Development. Under the first call, the Minister Ring € 86 million funding for projects across the country.

Gteic @ Spiddal is a lively part of a growing network of high-speed broadband facilities we are developing in rural areas in the Gaeltacht and this will help create jobs, support and encourage remote operation and will enable the Gaeltacht Diaspora to return the town, the development of concepts and facilitate new business and also will develop a hub in which a number of the Gaeltacht culture of creativity and innovation to succeed. ”
Finally the Minister Ring said:
“A great example is the project as rural communities across the country to benefit from the enormous level of investment made as part of Project Ireland in 2040 together with the economic progress and social being achieved due to the funding. My Department will of the rural development program to promote across Government and will continue to develop the excellent progress made so far. ”

Ireland Project 2040 – Regeneration Fund and Rural Development
Project 2040 is Ireland’s, policy and planning framework for the Government’s overarching social development, economic and cultural development of Ireland. It includes detailed capital investment plan for the next decade, the National Development Plan (NDP) 2018-2027, and the National Planning Framework which sets out the principles and priorities of the wider population growth and the economy up to the year 2040 plan.
As part of Project Ireland four capital fund established in 2040:
Regeneration Fund was established and Rural Development to the goal of the National Development Plan 2018-2027, the Economy and Strengthening Rural Communities, conclude and over 10 years to be implemented. The Rural and Community Development Department to administer the Fund makes.
Under this Fund, will invest available to support suitable projects in towns and villages with a population less than 10,000 people, as well as the surrounding areas, will achieve the aims of Project Ireland in 2040 as well as economic and social development sustainable achieved in these areas. Initial funding has been allocated € 315 million to the fund on a phased basis over the period 2019 to 2022.
Announced funding of € 86 million for 84 projects from the first call over two notices in Sligo (November 2018) and in Castleblaney (February 2019) Regeneration Fund and Rural Development.

The second call for applications for Category 1 of the Fund (projects received full planning consent for them) in April 2019. The call closed on 6 August 2019. The projects will be successful in the second last call before the this year.
Will be the second call for applications for Category 2 (projects needing further development so as to be ready for Category 1) by the end of this year.

Network hubs and digital innovation in the Gaeltacht gteic Digital Network and is developing a high-speed broadband connection by Údarás na Gaeltachta on Gaeltacht areas across the country. The Wild Atlantic Way, in County Donegal, in County Mayo, County Galway, in County Kerry and County Cork to be the innovative hub available. Will be provided in County Waterford and Meath in Ireland Ancient East as well. Also, the island has seven Gaeltacht and non-Gaeltacht islands as part of this digital ecosystem is expanding its vital infrastructure and global connection through which the rural areas to facilitate this.
There are seven open hub to date in Gweedore in County. Donegal, Belmullet, Co. Mayo, Carna, Carraroe and Furbo, Co. Galway from Cork Co. Cork and the Hub Tech / hub Dingle in Dingle in Co. Kerry. It is expected that seven hub gteic other on the right track on how to put them out and that customers in Ballinskelligs (Kerry South), Kilcar (Donegal), Cape Clear (Cork), Achill Island, The Show Jumping, Wind Yellow Sea and Crescent (Mayo) by the end of 2019.
