MHR to undertake pilot of new ‘PAYE Modernisation’ system with SQS

HR and payroll experts MHR have partnered with SQS the  quality specialist for digital business, part of the Assystem Technologies Group, to undertake a test programme of Ireland’s new ‘PAYE Modernisation’ system ahead of it going live next year.

The transition to the new Real Time Information (RTI) system, which comes into force on 1 January 2019, is the biggest reform of the PAYE system that will see organisations mandatorily required to submit employee pay and deductions every time they are paid rather than annually on the P35(L) and forms P45, P46 and P60 which are to be abolished.

Throughout the pilot, SQS will be trialling MHR’s market leading iTrent system to stress test the functionality of the new system.
The aim of the parallel stress testing is to identify any gaps and technical issues which Revenue can address before organisations throughout Ireland are mandatorily required to transfer to the new system.

Phil Codd, Managing Director at SQS Ireland says: “We are delighted to take part in this pilot programme of PAYE Modernisation, to test its functionality before it is rolled out, in partnership with a reputable and experienced HR and payroll partner in MHR. The move to RTI promises to make the payroll process faster and easier. Throughout this test period we will be working closely with MHR to test our data, familiarise ourselves with the new process and discover the savings and efficiencies we can achieve going forward.”

Rachel Mapleston, Irish payroll legislation expert at MHR comments: “The pilot of the PAYE Modernisation system is a critical step to ensuring thousands of organisations across Ireland can make the smooth transition come January. We’re delighted to partner with SQS as part of the pilot programme, as they could leverage their unique experience in software testing and risk mitigation to ensure a successful outcome. We are confident Revenue will find it a successful test.”
