How was the last year for you?
Last year was a foundational year for us. What worked well was the kind of engagement and open mindedness we saw with governments, regulators and large corporates in terms of fintech and blockchain models and opportunities to solve real problems.
At the same time, things do work at their own pace when it comes to financial institutions, which can be limiting, even frustrating at times.
What are your plans for the future?
Having run global businesses in large MNC banks, I believe in the power of trans-national businesses. Apart from economies and efficiencies of scale, one is also able to learn and adopt better practices from different markets.
Therefore our plan for the medium term is to set up a global footprint as soon as possible. We are in the process of expanding outside south and south-east Asia to set up offices in the UK and Australia, to start with.
What will you be talking about at Blockshow 2018 event?
Most people look at the blockchain Ecosystem in a rather one-dimensional way. Most of the narrative (including irrational hype) is around crypto currencies, tokens and speculation. Less attention is being given to various blockchain pilots to solve real world problems- the recent UN world food program leveraging biometrics and blockchain for aid management for Syrian refugees is a classic case. It is my endeavor, therefore, in my various global public, government and media interactions, to increase awareness about this aspect, and get more meaningful dialogues going.
What inspired you to attend the event?
I spoke at Blockshow last December too, in Singapore. I like the global scope of the event, and it’s intent to explore the latest and most cutting edge developments in the blockchain Ecosystem, and beyond.
Which influencers and websites do you follow to keep up to date with the latest developments?
Coin telegraph is one of my regulars. As well as Coindesk and quite a few others. Though I believe it to much more effective to actually interact with thought leaders, government and industry leaders and the global blockchain community. We have much to learn from these interactions.
How can people find out more about what you are working on?
