LinkedIn’ Irish office celebrates as construction of its international headquarters in Dublin nears completion

LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network on the internet, has announced that the final steel girder has been put in place as part of the construction of its international headquarters in Dublin.
Pictured at a ceremony for LinkedIn’s workforce, where all 1,000 staff signed the girder, are John Herlihy, Vice President and Managing Director of LinkedIn Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA); Sharon McCooey, Senior Director International Operations and Site Leader of LinkedIn Ireland; and Wendy Murphy, Senior HR Director for LinkedIn EMEA. Building works on LinkedIn’s international headquarters are expected to be completed at the beginning of 2017.

Over the course of the project:

· Approximately 14,500 cubic metres of concrete will be used, equivalent to filling over 64,000 domestic baths;

· 20,805m3 of soil has been excavated in order to construct the basement. This volume of soil would nearly fill seven Olympic swimming pools;

· The total length of all piles installed combined equates to 6km or 60 football pitches long;

· All of this has been achieved after completing over 200,000 man hours without an accident.

Since its arrival in Dublin in March 2010, I has grown substantially from an initial 3 people, to 1,000 employees today. LinkedIn’s international headquarters in Dublin is now one of the leading employers in the Irish digital technology sector.
