Less is more with the Huawei Watch GT

What Huawei’s’ Watch GT does well, it does very well; much like the entire Huawei range. There may not be third party apps available, but the pre-installed ones will more than meet all your needs for health and fitness activities.

The set up on this watch was simple. I paired it to the Huawei P30Pro in a matter of seconds and it worked in tandem with this seamlessly.

The watch face is large, allowing for easy navigation on the touchscreen, but probably a little too large for those with smaller wrists.  Intuitively you can swipe through the various features or use one of the two buttons on the right side of the bezel for further navigation.

In a world where the old adage less is more is so often ignored by tech manufacturers, the Huawei Watch GT frees you from all but essential notifications and this is one feature, albeit a lack of a feature, I liked when using the watch to monitor my health and fitness activities. The built-in GPS provided a more accurate record of the cycles and walks I went on in comparison to other watches and I could imagine the compass being very handy for those who like trekking or hill walking.

Huawei also packs in a very handy Find my Phone app on the watch for the times, and we all know these happen too often, that we mislay our phones.

Battery life is another strong point with the watch. On a single charge, you can expect to get up to 14 days without needing to charge it again. This is all the more impressive considering there is an AMOLED touchscreen which displays colours so well.

One feature I would like to see on the watch is the ability to use or design your own watch faces. While the preinstalled ones are fine, who does not want to personalise their own devices?

All in all, the Huawei Watch GT is a quality wearable for health and fitness enthusiasts and is priced competitively.
