By @SimonCocking. We interviewed Paula DeLaurentis Chief Marketing Officer for LendIt – the producer of the World’s Largest Show in Lending and Fintech, to find out more about it.
When is it on?
March 6-7 in New York City at the iconic Jacob Javits Convention Center.
How many years has it been going?
LendIt USA is in its 5th year. We now have 3 annual conferences and expect 5,000 attendees at our USA flagship event in March.
What was the inspiration to start it?
It all began in late 2012 with Jason, Bo, & Peter?—?three investors passionate about marketplace lending. Jason and Bo were pioneers in the P2P fund management sector, having launched one of the first dedicated P2P funds in the industry. Peter was and continues to be one of the most recognized and well-regarded personalities in the marketplace lending industry. He has built a huge following of P2P enthusiasts who have learned from him on his journey from personal investor to respected industry expert. The three got together for the marketplace lending community to meet, which continues to be our mission.
What exciting things can people look forward to for the 2017 version?
This year we are very excited to launch LendIt Awards to recognize industry leaders. We have also taken a broader approach and will dive deeper into fintech. Besides all things lending, we’ll dig into digital wealth management, fintech AI & biometrics, blockchain, financial inclusion, and digital banking.
What opportunities are on offer for startups, investors and companies attending?
LendIt loves startups. We offer special rates to startups looking for investors and also offer opportunities for startups to exhibit at our event. In addition we host PitchIt @ LendIt, a startup competition where finalists pitch to top VCs in the industry. We expect over 200 startups will apply this year.
What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?
Use our mobile apps to connect with attendees and setup meetings prior to the event. Find out what sessions are most relevant to you before you arrive and enjoy the many activities going on after the event.
How can people book tickets / when does it usually sell out?
Registration Tickets are available on our LendIt USA homepage: http://www.lendit.com/usa/2017
